Graduate Students


Amr Nabil

Amr Nabil received his Bachelor's degree in Electronics and Communications Engineering and Master's degree in Engineering Physics both from Cairo University, Giza, Egypt, in 2005 and 2009, respectively. He is currently a Ph.D. student in the Bradley Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Virginia Tech under the supervision of Prof. Thomas Hou. Amr's research interests are in the area of optimization and algorithm design for wireless networks.


Changlai Du

Changlai Du is a Ph.D. student in VT since fall 2012, under the supervision of Prof. Wenjing Lou. He received his B.S. degree from Southeast University (China) in 2003 and M.S. degree from Tsinghua University (China) in 2009. His research interests include wireless security and cloud computing security. 

Yan Huang

Yan Huang is currently a Ph.D. student supervised by Professor Thomas Hou in the Bradley Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Virginia Tech. He received his B.S. degree and M.S. degree both in electrical engineering from Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications (BUPT), Beijing, China, in 2012 and 2015, respectively. He received his B.S. degree in Economics from Peking University, Beijing, China, in 2014. His current research focuses are in optimization and algorithm design for wireless networks.


Tingting Jiang

Tingting Jiang is a part-time graduate student under the supervision of Prof. Wenjing Lou. Her research interests include wireless network security and privacy, cyber physical layer security and cognitive radio networking security.

She earned her B.S. degree in Computer Science from Virginia Tech and subsequently joined a high-tech company as a software engineer. She was awarded an NSF Graduate Research Fellowship during June 2011 – May 2014 for her graduate study in Computer Science at Virginia Tech. Since June 2014, she has been employed as a full-time Software Engineer at Virginia Tech Libraries and her part-time graduate research has been sponsored by her employer. 

Wenhai Sun

Wenhai Sun received his B.S. degree in Information Security and Ph.D. degree in Cryptography from Xidian University, China, in 2007 and 2014 respectively. Since 2015, he has been a Ph.D. student in the CNSR Lab at Virginia Tech. He was also a visiting Ph.D. student in CNSR Lab from  2011 to 2013. His research interests are cloud computing security, big data security, wireless network security and applied cryptography. 


Ruide Zhang

Ruide Zhang received his B.S. degree from the Department of Electrical Engineering, Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications (BUPT), Beijing, China, in 2014. Since the Fall of 2014, he has been pursuing the Ph.D. degree in the Computer Science Department at Virginia Tech, under the supervision of Prof. Wenjing Lou. His research interests lie in cyber security. 




Yao Zheng

Yao Zheng is a Ph.D. student at Virginia Tech. He received his B.S. degree in Microelectronic from Fudan University in 2007, M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in 2011. Between 2007 and 2009, he was a Researcher at Siemens AG, Beijing, China.

Tao Jiang

Tao Jiang is now a Ph.D. student at School of Telecommunications Engineering, Xidian University (2012 - ). He received his B.S. degree from School of Computer Science and Technology, Shandong Jianzhu University (2009), and M.S. degree from School of Computer Science and Communication Engineering, Jiangsu University (2012). His research interests include cryptography, network and data security, and cloud computing security. Currently, he is a visiting student in the Complex Networks & Security Research (CNSR) Lab at Virginia Tech (Nov. 2014 - Oct. 2016).
